Sleck Dust & Frothingham Best Award Winners | Great Newsome Brewery

Great Newsome favourites Sleck Dust and Frothingham Best have come away with awards at the prestigious SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers and Associates) North East Beer Competition. Both beers won Bronze in their respective cask beer categories which is no mean feet due to the strength of brewing talent in the north east at this current time.
Matthew Hodgson, director at Great Newsome Brewery commented on the wins, ” I am delighted for the team here at Great Newsome, it is a huge pat on the back and recognises the quality of the beers that they brew. Frothingham Best has won many awards in the past so it comes as less of surprise but Sleck Dust which is our best seller doesn’t win very often so this is nice to see”.

Frothingham Best has won numerous World Beer Awards and is a classic example of a best bitter. 4.3% abv, Frothingham Best is malty with a robust bitterness and a fruity finish. It takes its name from the hamlet of South Frodingham where the brewery is based which used to be called Frothingham.
